Greyhound Bus Accidents

Road trips can be exhilarating, but they are not for the faint of heart. There is no pleasure quite like listening to your road trip playlist on the open road and stopping at roadside diners to eat ordinary food that somehow tastes better than it does in more familiar territory. Between stops, you can look out the windows for farm animals and the occasional alligator. Those creatures are interesting even for you, but young children get excited even at the sight of ordinary vehicles, like buses, ambulances, and dump trucks. Of course, if you are the one driving, then you are the one constantly dodging obstacles on the highway, the snail’s pace construction and the movements of 18-wheelers; this requires you to be vigilant in circumstances that lend themselves well to zoning out. Therefore, it stands to reason that traveling by bus gives you all the zoning out road trip fun, but the responsibility for constant vigilance falls to professional bus drivers. Driver and 11 Passengers Injured After Greyhound Bus Collides With Dump Truck
In July 2025, a Greyhound Bus carrying a driver and 32 passengers collided head on with a dump truck near Greenville, South Carolina. The WCSC Live 5 website did not indicate the name of the road where the accident happened. The only details it gave about possible causes of the accident are that investigators believe that the bus driver fell asleep while driving, causing her to lose control of the bus, so it veered into the lanes of traffic heading in the other direction.
The bus had begun its trip in Charlotte, North Carolina, and its destination was Atlanta; some of the passengers planned to connect to other buses once they reached the Atlanta station. The driver and 11 passengers suffered injuries serious enough to require hospitalization, and they were transported to hospitals in Greenville. Greyhound sent a relief bus to transport the uninjured passengers from the site of the accident to Atlanta.
Since this was a Greyhound bus, and the passengers were paying customers, laws of commercial liability apply, especially since it appears that the bus driver was at fault for the accident. Companies that operate motor vehicles carry commercial liability insurance that enables them to cover the medical expenses arising from accidents in which multiple people get injured. Therefore, if you get injured in a commercial bus accident, such as when you are a passenger on a Greyhound bus, you can probably get the compensation you need to cover all your accident-related financial losses. A personal injury lawyer can help you negotiate with the insurance company if they do not offer you a big enough settlement.
