The phrase “banana boat” refers to many different things, some of them associated with recreation and fun. When you visit Myrtle Beach, you can sit astride an oblong, yellow raft, towed by a jet ski, and this is a banana boat ride. Banana boat rides are a lot of fun, unless something goes wrong. Customer Struck by Banana Boat on Myrtle Beach Sues Banana Boat Ride Operator

In June 2024, Marissa Miller visited Myrtle Beach. She rode a banana boat operated by Aloha Watersports. It was a windy day, and the driver of the jet ski pulling the banana boat was driving it fast, so the waves were rough. Miller called several times for the driver to slow down, but he did not. Eventually, a rough landing on a wave knocked her off balance, and she fell off the banana boat, landing in shallow water.  The banana boat then ran over her and then sped away, and Miller had to crawl to the shore and ask the people on the beach to call an ambulance.

The next year, Miller filed a premises liability lawsuit against Aloha Watersports, alleging premises liability. She claims that Aloha Watersports was negligent in running the banana boat ride in unsafe weather conditions and that the jet ski driver towed the boat at an excessive speed. Miller lives in Texas, but she filed the lawsuit in South Carolina.
